Are you making enough money? No matter how much
you currently earn, I suspect that many of you reading this week's newsletter would like to make more money. But have you ever really stopped to consider why?
It's interesting, but there seem to be two major
problems in life - not enough money and too much money! Isn't that true? There hasn't been any middle ground since society-at-large made millionaire status the gold standard for
success.
It’s not the norm in our society to be a
millionaire. Only 4% of Australians have their net worth measured in sums greater than 6 figures, and only a fraction of these folks earned millions themselves (making them suitable
role-models for others).
I've worked with a few self-made millionaires,
and had the fortune to meet many more. And what I've found in almost every case is that self-made millionaires are different from most people – they think, feel, and act very
differently.
They don’t just think outside the box, they
live outside it - permanently. Mainly because they are thoroughly in touch with what they want, and are positive that they know how to achieve it. That's the essence of entrepreneurial
zeal.
So why are there so few millionaires? Well, does
the phrase “filthy rich” mean anything to you?! A lot of people have extremely negative emotions tied up with the attainment and possession of money.
At least some of the negativity stems from bad
experiences with wealthy people. You know - the Hollywood celebrities we can't live without. Not to mention the lotto-winner next door who lives an extravagant lifestyle you don't
aspire to.
Also extremely common are limiting attitudes
with regard to the possession of excess money - attitudes such as 'money is the root of all evil', 'money can't buy happiness', etc. We've all heard them - more often than not from
people who have no money and are not ideally qualified to comment!
But perhaps most pervasive of all are the vast
number of subconscious prompters we tend to overlook. I'm talking here about the deep subconscious urges such as guilt for the have-nots of the world, worries
about frittering away what you've worked so hard for...
You see, it's easy to go up in the world but
much harder to come back down again! I've discovered that the continual worry of losing everything can be a powerful disincentive for many people -
even before it rears its ugly head!
What sometimes get forgotten are the many
benefits of actually owning the one million dollar notes. So why not take a moment right now to think about what you would do with one
million dollars.
On the plus side, you could help people in more
ways than ever before, you could make a real difference to other people’s lives, not to mention transforming your own. You could really make your presence in the world felt.
As a millionaire, people will appear like magic
at the right time to help you. You can travel internationally with few barriers, not to mention doing virtually anything you want when you want. Freedom is a very valuable commodity.
It's always going to be hard to imagine the view
from the summit of the mountain when you're standing down in the pastures below. The only way I know to bridge this inevitable gap requires a fundamental realization…
You are almost certainly already a
millionaire right now - you just need someone to show you how to collect the money!
It's true that money itself does not buy
happiness. After all, it takes a disciplined person to balance wealth with happiness. That's the subject of another newsletter. The good
news is that the 7-figure club is always open to those who believe in themselves and practice what they preach.
To play down the importance of money
misrepresents its role as the fundamental system of communication on this planet. It's a resource that can and should be used for whatever worthwhile purpose you can dream up.
As Robert Louis Stevenson so aptly said, “To
be who we are, and to become who we are capable of becoming, is the only end of life.” You've heard it before, but I bears repeating - it's not the money, it's what you do with it
that counts.
To your inevitable success,
Marcus.
