The Web Site

The "My HMV" section of this site is a nice touch which should be promoted better particularly on the front page as it provides a really good mechanism for direct marketing & return sales (of course it won't work unless it is promoted)

The web site has recently had a makeover and I am not sure whether they were trying to make it better or not........the layout is still a little scary and the look is still a little cheap. C'mon guys it doesn't need to be expensive but it does need to look professional........

Some of the graphics used are a bit heavy on the file size (at least 3 20Kb+) which may cause slow loading for the bandwidth deprived members of Australia....hello to the rural & regional bits of OZ :)

Store browsing is modeled similar to looking through the racks of a real world store and this works well. I think it was easier in version 1 of the store however.............

The shopping cart works well, but the ordering process is a bit clunky....but you get to the end ok...

VERDICT: Big Name Store....Can (will?) do better.....smells like they haven't quite got support from the "topdog" for their Internet store yet:)
